This piece is inspired by the drua, a traditional double-hulled canoe I encountered docked at Likuri Island during my trip to Fiji. These beautifully crafted vessels carry a fascinating history, once serving as swift naval ships used by indigenous peoples in battle. Through this work, I aim to honor the ingenuity and craftsmanship of the drua, capturing both its elegant form and its powerful legacy on the waters of the Pacific.
